In the recent update announced by Logitech in its tweet, Logitech has acquired Astro Gaming against the consideration of $85 millions USD.
This announcement is being deemed as the Logitech’s plan to dive full in in the console niche as Astro Gaming specializes in producing award winning headsets for pro e-sports. Especially for consoles.
Logitech, while considered a leader in producing range of keyboards, mice, headsets and other gaming accessories specifically for PC gaming, seems to be expanding its territories in the console market as well.
A spin-off in 2006 from a design firm, Astro Studios, Astro Gaming is considered a leader in console headsets for pro e-sports athletes.
Just a month ago Astro Gaming announced its new range of headsets (model A10) for PC, Mac, PS4 and XBox which soon went out of stock given its popularity among its gamer fans.
Being considered an all cash deal, the acquisition news was announced by Logitech’s Vice President and General Manager Gaming, Ujesh Desai on Logitech’s blog.
He further added:
I’m happy to share that we’ve found this same love for design and the sport of gaming in our newest team members: joining the Logitech G gaming team is ASTRO Gaming. ASTRO’s history of producing award-winning headsets for pro esports and console gamers perfectly complements the PC gaming expertise Logitech G is best known for.
And we know you love (or will love) ASTRO just as much as we do. So the ASTRO brand, and their awesome products aren’t going anywhere
The announcement further cements the speculations that the Astro Gaming’s brand will be used to target the console market while the Logitech will continue to keep producing PC accessories like in the past.
Quick side note, for any gaming it is a fantastic idea to have the best broadband deal. Usave provide some great deals, my friend found his broadband through them and they haven’t let him down!
Let’s see if this deal brings the synergy what is being expected by the experts and the gaming fans after this buy out.
